Brief Bio:

Dr. Margaret Read MacDonald travels the world, telling and bringing back stories from such marvelous places as Mahasarakham, Kota Kinabalu, and Rio. She is a folklorist, children's librarian, and the author of more than 65 books on folklore and storytelling.

MacDonald & Scholtz Singing Tales

MacDonald & Scholtz delight with their story and music duo. Sharing the story in music and voice, they invite the audience to sing along. MacDonald is renowned for her audience-participation folktales. Scholtz enhances with his amazing autoharp technique and the lovely mountain dulcimer.

Folklorist and storyteller Dr. Margaret Read MacDonald travels the world telling stories and teaching others to tell. Using simple audience-participation folktales MacDonald claims she can teach anyone to tell a story in about an hour! MacDonald, who holds a Ph.D. in Folklore from Indiana University, has offered her "Playing with Story" workshops and performances in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand and throughout North America. She is author of over 65 books, including the award winning Peace Tales, The Storyteller's Start-up Book, and Teaching with Story: Classroom Connections to Storytelling.
